BRKNK (Breakneck), Portsmouth, is well established as one of the South's best Drum & Bass events.
Some people like to hate us, because our events are successful and busy, and because we set out with ambitious plans to shake up the Portsmouth area club scene, and provide a consistent, dependable quality local Drum & Bass night...
Some claim we are some corporate brand sell outs, when in fact a handful of people have been involved from the start and are responsible for booking all the acts, all the promotion, all the web & flyer design, décor, backdrops, visuals, merchandise and occasional arty things.
We are devoted to supporting local talent and bringing the best DnB acts to Portsmouth. Our success is due to consistent quality and innovative production and variety of the events that we promote.
Many of the scene's big name DJs have gone on record as naming Breakneck amongst their favourite places to play.
Other events have come to Portsmouth and tried, and most have failed, and 'moved on' after one or two events.
Four years have passed, and we're still putting on great events, through high and lows and plenty of dedication.
We are still excited to put on events that people love to attend.
Nov 06 will see us celebrating our 4th year of Breakneck with Roni Size and MC Dynamite. Four years which have seen almost 50 BRKNK eventsŠ
- across 8 venues including our 1,200 capacity 2 room regular, boat parties, military seafort parties, and uniquely a party in an indoor children adventure playground.
- 7 Valve Sound Specials, including the Channel 4 doumentary included on the VALVE Mega Hertz DVD.
- 2 NYE events, including a DJ Friction midnight set 04-05.
- Regular £5 payback events showcasing the residents and special guests including Pendulum.
Big special events including Radio 1Xtra Xtra Bass Tour events and launch parties for Shogun Audio Label. Renegade Hardware's Guerrilla Warfare LP and Friction's Next Level LP.
BRKNK was nominated for Mixmag 'Southern Area Event 05' and has received plenty of glowing reviews in the national press and online.
